A CPR Certification Class will be held in the Yerby Auditorium from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on August 12 th. In this class participants will practice on manikins, use CPR training kits, and watch a training DVD. Those who successfully complete this 2½ hour class will receive American Red Cross certificates. Effective Grant Writing is a detailed grant writing workshop designed to teach participants essential information and techniques for writing each major component of a grant proposal. Workshop discussion focuses on each of the five major grant components: problem statement, goals and objectives, implementation plan, budget, and evaluation. Through hands-on exercises and group discussion, participants learn how to vary data presentation; write measurable goals and objectives; and how to prepare effective budget summaries and budget narratives. Participants are given insights into what most funders look for in a fundable project as a result of the presenter’s vast grants management experience. Participants are also given insights into how a typical grant review is conducted. Effective Grant Writing is a must for both novice and experienced grant writers who seek to instantly improve their grant writing skills and success rate. Targeted at new Mac users, this course will cover introduction to basics of the Mac desktop. Special emphasis will be paid to the "big three" (email, web, and photos), Windows to Mac switchers, installing Mac software (it's so easy it's hard at first), and introduction to how to effectively use timesaving features like Exposé, Dashboard, keyboard shortcuts, etc. By the end of the course participants should know what all of the applications that come with the Mac do and how to use most of them. ASL is a three-dimensional visual language that uses manual signs, body language, and facial expressions to convey meaning. One sign may be used to convey more than one word or meaning based upon its context and accompanying visual gestures. The Ulster Historical Foundation has fifty years of experience in dealing with family history inquiries and is widely regarded as the principal genealogical research agency in Ireland, providing a comprehensive and professional service. In Social Dance, DanceQuest founder David Cox will cover the basics of dancing and some fun variations. Anne Fisher-Worth will be back again this fall with her popular yoga class. Yoga stretches and strengthens the body, reduces stress, and calms the mind: it can also offer experiences of deep connectedness and bliss.
